SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY WING RENOVATION
CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY IRVINE - SPECTRUM CAMPUS
Irvine, California
At Concordia University Irvine’s Spectrum Campus in Irvine’s Medical District, the new Science and Technology wing significantly expands academic offerings in emerging fields such as computer gaming, robotics, and cybersecurity. The design emphasizes flexibility and adaptability, with technology-rich classrooms, labs, and collaborative workspaces that support both traditional instruction and hands-on, experiential learning.
Open, modular layouts encourage cross-disciplinary interaction, allowing students and faculty to explore innovative projects and real-world problem-solving. Integrated infrastructure and advanced technical systems provide the capacity to accommodate evolving technologies, ensuring the wing remains at the forefront of STEM education. Specialized labs and maker spaces are paired with flexible lecture areas, fostering both individual focus and collaborative engagement.
The architecture also prioritizes connectivity—visual and physical links between classrooms, labs, and informal gathering spaces promote a sense of community while enhancing circulation. Thoughtful daylighting, sightlines, and material choices reinforce an inspiring learning environment that balances functionality with creativity. By combining adaptable spaces, advanced technology, and collaborative design, the Science and Technology wing positions Concordia University Irvine to equip students with the skills, knowledge, and practical experience needed for success in rapidly evolving STEM disciplines.
