THE HUB PAVILION + SITEWORK
THE GROVE COMMUNITY CHURCH
Riverside, California

The Hub Pavilion and Terrace is defined by expressive architectural forms that shape both experience and meaning. Layered planes and sweeping rooflines intersect and rise, converging along a central axis that subtly orients the space toward the cross. These dynamic forms create a sense of lift and motion, evoking a dove ascending from the hilltop—symbolizing peace, hope, and spiritual elevation.

Beneath this sculptural framework, a fully equipped kitchen and flexible seating support dining, gatherings, and community interaction, creating a versatile social hub. The terrace extends outward, framing views of athletic fields, distant mountains, and city lights, while thoughtfully arranged seating fosters conversation and connection. A tranquil prayer fountain provides a contemplative counterpoint, offering quiet reflection that balances the activity of the pavilion.

Through its interplay of form, function, and symbolism, the Hub Pavilion and Terrace unifies social, spiritual, and visual experiences. The architecture not only defines space but also guides movement, frames vistas, and reinforces a sense of community. Every element—from the soaring rooflines to the reflective water feature—works in concert to create a layered, meaningful environment that celebrates interaction, contemplation, and connection to the surrounding landscape.
